Five Sentence Fiction – Angles
“Bah – spirits are just a bunch of mumbo jumbo,” Phil said with a harrumph and a flick of the wrist.
The ghost solidified before him. Phil scowled, his eyes glowed blue and he reached into the specter and pulled out its soul, crushing it under foot.
“You saw nothing,” Phil said as he wiped the back of his arm across his brow. “I can and will do the same to you.”
People are strange creatures. Seem from one angle, they are fierce in their belief structures. Seen from another angle, they are somehow able to reconcile or compartmentalize conflicting belief systems – like a biologist that is a creationist. Or a physicist that still goes to church on Sunday.
